Kasim has mentioned Borders at several shows I've attended - he likes to "read" while he travels. During the Have Guitar, Will Travel tour (that's the one where he drove over 5,000 miles in a couple of months!) he picked up several books on CD at a Borders Outlet in Ohio (I believe that's what he said, let me go check the video to be sure, hehehe!). I couldn't be happier about his choice of stores :-) **See below for more on that angle...
Kasim will be playing at several Borders stores this fall/winter - if you have the chance I highly recommend making the trip to see him! You'll have the chance to hear Quid Pro Quo music live, buy a CD, take a photo with the most amazingly down-to-earth guy, and oh yeah, have a good latte while you're at it...

** You may (or may not!) know that I worked at Borders Books, Music and Cafe - Omaha Northwest for the past few years. (We don't actually have to say all that when we answer the phone, though!!) I started out part-time and went full-time for a while, then back to part-time. I left after almost 4 years because I'm going back to school. At $600 a class, the Master's degree has priority over buying books cheap :-)
In a very touching way, just before I left I found out that I had been selected as employee of the month, and this was my display.
From the top - we have Justice Hall, the newest book from one of my favorite authors and series - Laurie R King's Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes adventures.
Then, of course, the VH-1 Storytellers DVD and CD, featuring Kasim, since that's the show that started it all. The CD was produced by Kasim as well.
Next up - Passage by Connie Willis (she's an AMAZING sci-fi writer who has won more awards than I can think to list here. I have a personal connection there as well. I went to school with her daughter Cordelia and we've just gotten back in touch recently after some 6 or 7 years!)
Then Othello by the man himself, William Shakespeare. No matter who you believe wrote them, the man from Stratford or Ben Jonson or Kit Marlowe, whoever did was a genius. Knew human nature and was absolutely BRILLIANT. My favorite quote from Othello is "Excellent wretch! Perdition catch my soul but I do love thee. And when I do not, chaos is come again."
Last on row three - the soundtrack to Moulin Rouge. The favorite movie of my aforementioned friend Cordelia, and an amazing romp with Nicole Kidman and Ewan MacGregor showing us what they have in singing voices! And Baz Luhrman finds the most amazing ways to combine songs and make it possible to believe that music by Madonna and the Beatles and David Bowie and the Police belong in early 1900's France!
Last row - we have Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. Got turned on to this one by an interview with Kasim where he mentioned it as his favorite book - it's a classic I'd never read before. But I truly am enjoying it... thanks, Kas! Pebs enjoyed it too on her vacation this past summer...
Then Austin Powers : International Man of Mystery! Say what you will about Mini-Me, this is the quintessential AP movie! When I need a laugh or want to forget how much I'm facing at work, I throw this one on. Yeah, Baby! Oh, Behave!
Finally - Sliding Doors. Starring Gwyneth Paltrow and John Hannah, this one is amazing. The premise, the romance, the accent Gwynnie puts on and makes you believe!!!! And it has an amazing soundtrack. Also - another favorite quote: "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition." (Thanks, Monty Python boys!!)
So now you know all about my favorites and so forth.
